Timeless Craftsman – Great Room to Kitchen

This two-story house with a walkout basement draws on historical precedents to create a home that’s both spacious and intimate. The richly detailed stairway, featuring a traditional bay landing, leads up to the home’s more private areas via an “overpass” hall that looks out on the vaulted great room. The interior design is the result of close collaboration between owner and consulting interior architect Robert Larsen AIA, paying homage to the Arts and Crafts Movement. Its thoughtfully detailed woodwork and leaded-glass entry door are reminiscent of Greene & Greene’s work, and the fireplace surrounds, detailed in colorful tile and rustic stone, are examples of classic Craftsman design.
